Relax. Relate. Release.

With so much going on back on the home front in Washington, DC and my cousin Krystal’s birthday weekend right in the middle of the chaos, my family decided to come visit me for the dreaded Inaugural Weekend.  I must admit, I was bursting with excitement and couldn’t wait for them to arrive.  Before I tell you the happs…a little background.

My mom’s side of the family is made up of beautiful women who birthed and raised more beautiful women.  If I can remix the lyrics of JuJu on that beat real quick “We pretty…we our mother’s daughters…aye” LOL, let me put goofy Dom back in the closet for a minute.  My cousin’s and I are all in the same age range and when we get together there is non-stop #girlfriend talk and open, honest feedback on life, love, and the pursuit of happiness. 

I am NOT the planner, I repeat I am NOT the planner.  I’m the more spontaneous cousin who does things on a whim and goes wherever the wind blows.  So the birthday girl, Krystal did most of the planning.  We ran around Brooklyn and Manhattan and had an amazing time sipping and painting the town with our southern girl style. 

We made it a point throughout the weekend to carry the #Obama cut outs I got from the Farewell Obama party that BK based group Black Genius held all around town with us.
We wanted to spend the weekend celebrating our sister, not thinking about how our country has made such a huge mistake. 

Cramped in my small BK apartment with two air mattresses, my queen bed, and my boyfriend exiled to the couch for the weekend was the best thing we’ve done in a long time. The laughs were endless, the memories are priceless, and we make sure to give our #girlfriend, sister, and cousin the best birthday get away ever. 

So girlfriends, I say this to yo all.  Don’t let the woes of politics and Trump nonsense take you away from enjoying this life that you were blessed to live.  Gather yo
ur girlfriends and get away from it all for awhile, hell take Obama cut outs with you if that helps. LMAO.  Our weekend was Beyonce #flawless and Solange #historic and I wouldn’t have wanted any other way.
