GIRLFRIENDS, Issa Love Letter!

Dear Girlfriends,

As the never ending year of 2021 has finally come to an end, we enter into the new and unknown of 2022. In my reflections of the crazy that was 2021 I got to thinking, damn I really have some dope girlfriends. So with the revival of my blog, finally, I decided to dedicate the first post of the year to y’all.

All my girlfriends know that the last 5 months of 2021 was definitely the hardest 5 months I’ve ever experienced in my entire life! Tragically losing my dad, 5 years after tragically losing my mom, has taken me through some emotions that I never imagined I was capable of having. Outside of God and my husband, it is YOU girlfriends who have kept and keep me going daily.

From your daily calls, texts, dinners, and check in’s with me, THANK YOU! I knew I had some dope women in my circle, but my goodness you ladies have truly outdone yourselves. Not only have each of you been there to usher me into a new life as an adult orphan, but you all show up for me when I don’t even know I need you. There was a day that I was feeling really horrible and didn’t want to get up off the couch to do anything or to talk to anyone and one of you called me just to check in and could sense that I was not well. Instead of telling me it would be okay, you simply just said, “girl feel however you need to feel” and that made all the difference and helped me pick myself up and get moving for the day. Y’all know my love of wine and made sure to stop with it for some girlfriend time or have it delivered with beautiful floral arrangements and plants. Who knew the power a plant could have to help you heal, THANK YOU! Then there are the 5:30 am early morning workout sessions with my good girlfriend, that literally feed my soul and help me establish a daily routine to get up and start the day with meditation, laughs, and a nice sweat! Oh and I can’t forget my birthday, that week was HARD for me, but it was you my sistas who checked on me daily and took that long drive to help me celebrate myself at the beautiful winery. THANK YOU! You all showered me with kind words, lots of hugs, 90’s r&b sing alongs, and of course great wine! I can’t count the many brunches, dinners, and home happy hours I’ve had with so many of you; THANK YOU! I truly cherish the time we’ve spent together and don’t take any of you for granted. Whether we’ve been friends for 2 years or 20, you are all truly special to me and I’m forever grateful for the way that you’ve shown up to support me in my greatest time of need. Like Molly told Issa on the finale episode of our favorite show, Insecure,
